This policy is part of the Terms of Use and applies to any story, photo, artwork, memory, comment or other material (a “Submission”) you send NancyLayneCo, LLC through the Site, by email, or through our social channels.
1. Who may submit. You must be 18 or older. A parent or legal guardian may submit on behalf of a minor and accepts this policy for them.
2. Your promises. By submitting, you confirm that:
- you created the Submission or have written permission from everyone who owns rights in it;
- every identifiable person shown or named has agreed to its use, and a parent or guardian has agreed for any minor;
- it is accurate to the best of your knowledge and is not confidential, defamatory or unlawful.
3. License you grant. You keep ownership of your Submission. You grant NancyLayneCo, LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to store, reproduce, edit for length and format, caption, display, publish and archive it on the Site, in newsletters, on our social channels, and in exhibits and tribute materials honoring Layne Staley. We may let our service providers handle it for these purposes. We will not sell your Submission or use it in merchandise or advertising without your separate written permission.
4. Removing your Submission. You may ask us to stop using your Submission at any time. We will remove it from the Site and our social channels within 10 business days and stop new uses. We cannot recall copies already printed, distributed or archived by others.
5. Our choices. Publication is at our discretion. We may decline, edit, crop, anonymize or remove any Submission, including for rights, privacy, accuracy or tone.
6. Credit. If we publish your Submission, we will credit you the way you ask when you send it: full name, first name, initials, or “a fan.” If you don’t say, we will use your first name.
7. No payment or return. Submissions are voluntary and unpaid unless we agree otherwise in writing. Please send copies, not originals; we cannot return materials.
8. Sensitive information. Do not include medical records, treatment details or other private health information about yourself or anyone else. If a Submission includes recovery or grief content, we may anonymize or edit it to protect privacy.
9. Not allowed. Do not submit:
- unreleased recordings, private photos, lyrics or documents you do not have rights to;
- AI-generated voice, music or likeness of Layne Staley;
- content that exploits addiction, death or family grief;
- addresses, phone numbers or other private details of anyone;
- advertising, spam, or hateful, threatening or defamatory material.
