1. What we use AI for. NancyLayneCo, LLC uses AI software, including an assistant called Legacy Assistant, to help run parts of this Site. Legacy Assistant is a software tool. It is not Layne Staley, does not speak for him, and does not imitate his voice, words or personality.
2. Where AI is used on this Site.
- Newsletter. Legacy Assistant helps build newsletter pages from human narration and notes written by the estate. Audio narration is recorded by people. The estate reviews every issue before it is published or sent.
- Store. Legacy Assistant tracks orders, helps answer order and support questions, and sends order updates to our staff. Some replies you receive about an order may be written by Legacy Assistant.
- Behind the scenes. We also use AI tools to help draft documents, organize files and summarize aggregate site and store data for staff review.
3. Talking to a person. Legacy Assistant is not offered as a live chat on the Site. If you would rather deal with a person on any question, email admin@layne-staley.com and ask for a person. A member of the estate team will respond.
4. What people decide. People, not AI, make every decision about:
- refunds, replacements, cancellations and payments;
- licensing and name, image, likeness, music or voice requests;
- merchandise, partnerships and public statements;
- legal, financial, tax and vendor matters;
- publishing changes to the Site.
5. What we never do. We do not use AI to create Layne Staley’s voice, music, performances, interviews or likeness.
6. How we protect information. We never enter payment-card numbers, passwords, or health or recovery information into AI tools. Legacy Assistant uses order details, such as your name, items ordered, shipping address and order status, only as needed to track orders and answer your questions.
